Machine gun, drugs found during Peninsula traffic stop: PD

(KRON) — A suspected drug dealer was allegedly found in possession of a machine gun when he was arrested near the intersection of Delaware Street and 25th Avenue in San Mateo Friday.

An officer with the San Mateo Police Department pulled over a car for illegal tint and expired registration around 1:37 p.m. and allegedly saw an open bottle of tequila inside the car.

“A probable cause search was conducted, and inside a black backpack in the backseat of the vehicle, officers located a Glock pistol with a multi-burst trigger, an extended magazine, and a round in the chamber of the pistol,” SMPD said. “Officers also located inside the backpack, two scales and packaging materials commonly associated with drug sales, psilocybin mushrooms, 17 oxycodone pills, and marijuana.”

The driver of the car, 18-year-old Belmont resident Carron Patterson, was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail. Patterson faces numerous criminal charges, including converting a firearm into a machinegun, possession of a controlled substance while armed, carrying a concealed firearm inside a vehicle, possession of an unconventional pistol, possession of a multi-burst trigger, carrying a loaded firearm in public under specific circumstances, possession of a machinegun, possession of marijuana for sale and possession of a loaded, concealed firearm.
