Contra Costa County Woman Indicted for Assaulting Crew and Security at SFO After International Flight

A Contra Costa County woman faces multiple charges for allegedly creating chaos on an international flight and subsequent strife upon landing at San Francisco International Airport. According to a federal indictment, Reshma Kamath, 40, stands accused of assaulting crew members during a flight from Delhi to SFO and then tussling with security and a federal officer once on the ground.

The indictment, which was unsealed on November 11, details a series of aggressive confrontations Kamath allegedly initiated on Air India flight 173. It claims that not only did she verbally and physically abuse two flight attendants, but upon touching down, she continued her rampage, striking an SFO security employee and resisting arrest from a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer. This bout of disorder could see Kamath facing a serious slate of consequences if convicted, a maximum of 20 years for each count of interference with flight crew members, plus hefty fines and additional prison time for the other charges.

United States Attorney Craig H. Missakian brought the indictment to light, as reported by the Department of Justice.
