Police arrest mass stabbing suspect after Inner Richmond incident that left five injured

Authorities have arrested a man suspected of injuring five people during a stabbing in the Inner Richmond last month. Joncarlo Gutierrez, 32, was booked into the San Francisco jail just before midnight on Nov. 14, more than two weeks after the incident. Police say they responded at about 2:10 a.m. on Oct. 24 to reports of an altercation on the 3900 block of Geary Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found a person involved in a verbal dispute with several people inside a business, which the police did not identify. The argument quickly turned violent and police said multiple people were assaulted by the suspect with a knife. Though it’s unclear how many people were stabbed, four people were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while a fifth person was treated at the scene. Gutierrez faces one charge of attempted murder, five counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of mayhem.
