A Thanksgiving Eve argument on an East Oakland block ended in deadly gunfire yesterday, leaving a 36-year-old man dead and adding to a grim run of recent shootings in the city, police said.
Officers responding to reports of shots fired found the wounded man in the 1700 block of 28th Avenue. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died a short time later. Police are investigating the killing as a homicide.
According to investigators, the city’s gunshot-detection system recorded gunfire around 9:35 PM. Officers later learned the victim had been shot after an argument with another person. Less than an hour earlier, around 8:20 PM, an earlier shooting in East Oakland in the 2000 block of 27th Avenue left two men wounded, one of them critical, The Mercury News reported.
