San Francisco landmark sells for first time in 145 years

A six-story San Francisco landmark — the home of the only neon sign left on Market Street — has sold for the first time since it was constructed in the aftermath of the 1906 earthquake and fire more than a century ago.

A private investor purchased the Odd Fellows temple on the corner of Market and 7th streets, according to a news release shared by real estate services firm Colliers on Monday. The building sold for $6.75 million, the San Francisco Business Times first reported.

Built in 1909, the building belonging to the San Francisco chapter of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows was a replacement for the fraternal organization’s original 1884 headquarters.
