On Friday, November 21, Alameda Police Department (APD) officers participated in a planned undercover operation to address retail theft impacting Alameda businesses, according to an APD report on Facebook.
During the operation, seven individuals were arrested or issued citations for offenses including shoplifting, trespassing, and violations of probation or parole terms. APD officers were able to return more than $1,200 of stolen merchandise to the affected businesses.
“Since dedicating business patrol officers to our shopping districts, APD teams have built strong working relationships with local business owners and staff,” the report stated. “These partnerships have given officers valuable insight into how to best support store employees when responding to calls for service. They have also played an important role in the success of our directed enforcement efforts.”
