Bay Area family charged with running lucrative network of brothels

A San Jose couple and their adult son were charged with running a lucrative network of brothels in the Bay Area that trafficked dozens of women, Santa Clara County prosecutors said Thursday.

Prosecutors allege Joseph and Binghua Bresee ran at least 10 brothels disguised as massage parlors in several cities, including Gilroy, Morgan Hill, San Jose, Cupertino, Mountain View and Hayward. The brothels brought in about $1 million a year.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office said it froze more than $1.25 million of illegal profits and charged the co-defendants with 26 felonies, including criminal conspiracy, pimping, money laundering and tax fraud. Joseph Bresee, 77, Binghua Bresee, 52, and their son, Jiabao Huang, 30, pleaded not guilty last Friday…
