In a joint operation described as precise and taut, the San Leandro Police, alongside the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force, made a significant dent in local car theft operations. Yesterday, law enforcement descended upon a home on the 700 block of Alice Avenue, following up on reports of a stolen vehicle that was reportedly housed at the location. What they uncovered was a den of vehicular theft, a so-called “chop shop,” where stolen cars are typically disassembled for parts. The San Leandro Police Department stated the investigation unfolded at approximately 8:19 AM.
Once the officers arrived on the scene, with the first stolen vehicle confirmed, the plot quickly thickened as they discovered additional stolen property. Swarming the premises, they established a perimeter, not just to corner the suspect, but also to guard against the possibility of an escape.
