Gunfire Locks Down Richmond’s Pennsylvania Avenue, One Airlifted

Richmond’s 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue was shut down yesterday after a shooting left one person with moderate injuries and sent them to the hospital by air. Police said the victim is expected to survive.

Officers blocked vehicle and pedestrian traffic on the block while detectives documented the scene and spoke with witnesses. Residents reported a heavy police presence in the area as the investigation unfolded.

In a Community Advisory posted on Facebook, the Richmond Police Department said the case remains active and urged people to steer clear of the immediate area while officers work. The advisory noted that the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue is closed to both cars and foot traffic, and that the victim was flown to a local hospital with moderate injuries and is expected to survive.
