Thieves who stole $52K in alcohol from Bay Area Safeways arrested: PD

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A “prolific” team of thieves who stole more than $52,000 in merchandise from stores in the Bay Area were arrested following a months-long investigation, the San Francisco Police Department announced Thursday.

The suspects allegedly stole bottles of alcohol during dozens of organized thefts at Safeway stores in San Francisco and Oakland. The thefts also caused $6,000 in damages to the businesses.

Six suspects were arrested between Oct. 25 and Dec. 5. Police also seized multiple illegal guns in the case.

The suspects arrested during the investigation were identified by police as Kevin Lavender, Frederick Dozier, Kel Lavender, Kewhum Allen, Tronshown Skyides and Keana Allen.

The suspects were arrested and charged with the following crimes:

Kevin Lavender:

  • 2 counts of felon in possession of a firearm
  • Felon in possession of ammunition
  • Possession of an assault weapon
  • Possession of machine gun
  • 2 counts of robbery
  • 18 counts of commercial burglary
  • 14 counts of grand theft
  • 3 counts of Vandalism over $400
  • Organized retail theft
  • Court order violation
  • 6 counts of shoplifting
  • Vandalism under $400
  • Probation violation

Frederick Dozier:

  • Possession of an assault weapon
  • Possession of machine gun
  • 2 counts of robbery
  • 15 counts of commercial burglary
  • 12 counts of grand theft
  • 3 counts of vandalism over $400
  • Organized retail theft
  • Court order violation
  • 5 counts of shoplifting
  • Vandalism under $400

Kel Lavender:

  • 2 counts of robbery
  • 14 counts of commercial burglary
  • 11 counts of grand theft
  • 3 counts of vandalism over $400
  • Organized retail theft
  • 5 counts of shoplifting
  • Vandalism under $400
  • Probation violation

Tronshown Skyides:

  • Carrying a loaded firearm in public
  • Felon in possession of ammunition
  • Gun possession by past juvenile offender
  • 2 counts of commercial burglary
  • Grand theft
  • Organized retail theft

Kewhum Allen:

  • 4 counts of commercial burglary
  • 3 coutns of grand theft
  • Organized retail theft
  • 2 counts of vandalism over $400

Keana Allen:

  • Commercial burglary
  • Driving on a suspended license
