Four people were wounded in a shooting just before 4:30 PM last Saturday on 72nd Avenue near MacArthur Boulevard in East Oakland, a busy corridor that has seen more than its share of police tape in recent weeks. Officers arriving at the scene found two victims and had them rushed to nearby hospitals, while two other wounded people were driven to medical care by a private party. All four were reported in stable condition. Investigators spent the afternoon canvassing the block and are asking anyone with photos or video to step forward as detectives dig into what happened.
What police say
According to CBS News, Oakland Police responded to multiple ShotSpotter activations and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds on the block. Medics transported those victims to hospitals, while officers later learned that two additional people, believed to be connected to the same shooting, had arrived at hospitals in a private vehicle. All four victims were listed in stable condition.
Officers arrested two juvenile suspects in connection with the incident. Police, however, “did not further elaborate on the circumstances of the shooting,” CBS News reported.
