Richmond firefighters respond to fire at Public Storage facility

(KRON) — Firefighters in Richmond were responding to what appears to be a fire at a storage facility on Wednesday. The Richmond Fire Department said it was on the scene at a structural fire at 398 Carlson Blvd.

That matches the address of a Public Storage facility, and a photo of the scene showed smoke emanating from the facility. Richmond Fire confirmed that smoke was visible in the area, but there was no need to shelter in place.

Video from the scene (watch in the player above) showed flames bursting from the roof of the building with several first responder vehicles engaged in battling the blaze.

According to Richmond Fire officials, the three-alarm fire broke out at 12:16 a.m. and the building suffered a partial roof collapse. Several storage units at the facility have been impacted by the fire, the cause of which is under investigation.
