Born and raised in Oakland, California, Yung Cheeze is an artist whose sound and story are inseparable from the Bay Area’s rich cultural legacy. Growing up in a single-parent household alongside three siblings, he was introduced early to the realities of struggle, resilience, and survival. He attended Prescott Elementary School before graduating from Rudsdale Academy, navigating an environment shaped by gang violence, drugs, and economic hardship. Where many saw limitation, Yung Cheeze found direction—through music.
A Church-Built Foundation
Yung Cheeze’s musical journey began in the church. At just 8 years old, he started singing in the choir and quickly rose to become a lead vocalist. The church instilled discipline, emotional depth, and confidence—elements that continue to define his artistry today. By the age of 14, his curiosity evolved into creation as he began producing music, learning how to craft sounds from scratch. At 15, he was fully immersed, recording and writing original material, shaping a voice that was uniquely his own.
