The San Francisco police sergeant who first identified Luigi Mangione as a suspect in the killing of a health care executive said his department never heard or conveyed the remark that has fueled months of misleading headlines about Mangione’s mother.
Sgt. Michael Horan, who worked a missing person’s report filed by Mangione’s mother, Kathleen Mangione, in November 2024, said neither he nor anyone else in the San Francisco Police Department heard her suggest that her son was capable of the crime.
