An Oakland cyclist’s death near the Coliseum in late 2024 has led to felony charges more than a year later, after what authorities describe in court filings as a data-heavy, months-long investigation.
Court records state that 24-year-old Mateo Hernandez was arrested on Dec. 13 and charged in the hit-and-run death of bicyclist Reggie Warren, who was struck while riding through a crosswalk near the Oakland Coliseum on Nov. 23, 2024. Prosecutors have charged Hernandez with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and with leaving the scene of an accident that caused death. He is being held without bail at the county jail and is scheduled to enter a plea on Jan. 8, 2026, according to The Mercury News.
