SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Mayor Daniel Lurie is launching a Rapid Enforcement, Support, Evaluation, and Triage (RESET) Center to get drug users off San Francisco streets.
The RESET Center will provide an alternative to jail or hospitalization for people who are arrested while under the influence of drugs. According to the mayor’s office, the center will help get drug users off the streets faster and connected to treatment.
“The RESET Center represents a tough-love approach that balances accountability with compassion,” Sheriff Paul Miyamoto wrote in a statement. “This is an alternative to jail or the emergency room — one that allows deputies and first responders to focus on higher-priority emergencies while ensuring people struggling with addiction receive individualized care from medical professionals, not a drunk tank.”…
