For more than six decades, Albany Body Shop has quietly built a reputation on San Pablo Avenue that doesn’t rely on flashy marketing or shortcuts—just consistency, craftsmanship, and pride in the work. It’s the kind of place where the business has outlasted trends, technologies, and even generations, all while keeping its standards firmly intact.
The shop’s roots stretch back to 1963, when Lee Smith’s father purchased the business from its original owner. Automotive repair was already in Lee’s blood, but his own path into the family business was deliberate. After trade school, he spent time working in the transmission field, determined to deepen his understanding of vehicles before stepping into the shop full-time. In 1985, he joined his father at Albany Body Shop—and more than 40 years later, he’s still there, guiding the operation with the same steady hand that shaped his career.
