Armed suspect taken into custody after police shooting in San Leandro

(KRON) — A man who police say was armed with a rifle was taken into custody early Monday after a police shooting in San Leandro.

According to the San Leandro Police Department, the shooting occurred just after 12:30 a.m. on railroad tracks southwest of Davis Street and Alvarado Street.

The incident began minutes earlier when officers attempted a traffic stop on a black Mercedes sedan. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed before crashing into a curb.
