Dungeness crab season is now in full swing — and there’s a new way to enjoy it at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf.
On Saturdays, customers can go to the wharf and buy crabs from individual fishing boats, then walk the crustaceans to a popup fish market on the docks that will cook them to order.
The popup fish market launched earlier this month, right after the start of the commercial Dungeness crab season, and it will run through the end of March. The fish market also sells cleaned and cut fish directly from local fishermen, who can sell whole fish off the boat but not fillets…
