San Francisco restaurant legendary for ‘party’ atmosphere closes after three decades

Cadillac Bar & Grill, a lively and well-loved Mexican restaurant that the Chronicle once feted as “always a party,” has closed after three decades in the city.

The closure was confirmed by owner Michael Rodriguez, who said in a post to the restaurant’s website that it had enjoyed an “incredible run.” The restaurant originally operated in an alley near Fourth and Howard streets from 1982 to 1999 before closing to make room as Moscone Center expanded.

Sixteen years later, it reopened in Mid-Market, at a time of optimism for the neighborhood…
