Oakland man arrested for Chico New Year’s Day shooting

CHICO, Calif. — After a 28-day investigation, Chico Police Department detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal New Year’s Day shooting that killed 30-year-old Sean Allen Jr.

The Chico Police Department issued a press release stating that 29-year-old Dante Terrell Murphy was arrested in Oakland on Wednesday.

According to Chico Police, detectives identified Murphy as the suspect early in the investigation and secured a Ramey Arrest Warrant on Thursday, January 1. Officials stated that after the shooting, Murphy allegedly fled to Nevada, prompting detectives to work closely with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

In the past week, Chico Police worked with Bay Area law enforcement agencies to conduct surveillance. Officials stated that Murphy will be brought to the Butte County Jail and held without bail pending further legal proceedings. He was arrested on one felony count of murder…
