San Francisco health officials say more than 50 students and staff at Archbishop Riordan High School have now tested positive for latent tuberculosis, adding to the three confirmed active TB cases already identified in the school community.
The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) disclosed the widening outbreak in a health advisory issued Thursday, calling it a “large-scale TB contact investigation” and urging local doctors to report new cases.
The school announced it will suspend in-person classes for at least a week, transitioning first to remote learning and then to a hybrid model through Feb. 20, as public health officials continue repeated testing cycles every eight weeks.
