(KRON) — For hometown hero Alysa Liu, the accolades following her historic figure skating gold medal win continues to roll in. On Thursday, the 20-year-old Oakland native became the first U.S. woman to capture the gold in Olympic figure skating in 24 years.

The world — and her hometown — have taken notice of the young Olympian’s gold medal triumph.

Since then, she’s received congratulations from BART, AC Transit, and Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, among others. This after being told by NFL star and fellow Oakland native Marshawn Lynch to “win some gold” before she even stepped out onto the Italian ice…
