(KRON) — A woman had just settled into her new home in Oakland when thieves stole her car. “My SOUL was taken from me … my Kia Soul,” Tina Cansler wrote on a verified GoFundMe page.
The page states, “I recently moved back to Oakland after being away for 4 years. Not even a month in, my car was stolen. This certainly is triggering for me considering the same thing happened the week I was moving away.”
The theft has left Cansler without a car for commuting to her job in Berkeley and driving to nearby nature trails for walking her dog. “I only considered living in this neighborhood because the price was right. I am now trying to navigate how to commute,” she wrote.
Cansler reported the Kia Soul as stolen to police, but the car remains missing. The GoFundMe page is asking for donations to help Cansler cover costs from taking public transit and other unforeseen expenses.
