Multiple Arrests Made in Murder of Incarcerated Person at Monterey County Jail
March 31, 2026 – Monterey County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they have made multiple
arrests in what is being investigated as a murder of an incarcerated person at Monterey County Jail. The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Abraham Camacho of Hayward.
At about 10:00 A.M. on Sunday, March 29th, 2026, correctional deputies entered a housing unit at the jail to conduct a safety check and provide meals to incarcerated persons. Deputies located an unconscious incarcerated person who appeared to have been assaulted. Life-saving measures were initiated by deputies and jail medical staff. Paramedics and fire personnel arrived shortly thereafter and continued medical aid. Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene…
