Carnitas Carnitas Zamora, an Oakland-based food truck specializing in traditional Michoacán-style pork, is getting ready to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant in East Oakland at 6633 Bancroft Avenue.
The new restaurant will move into the former home of Mi Zacatecas and is set to open in April 2026, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The business is owned by Alejandro Rocha, who founded Carnitas Carnitas Zamora in 2022 to bring the confit-style pork of his hometown, Zamora, Michoacán, to the Bay Area. Rocha tells Whatnow San Francisco that the restaurant will have a soft opening in late April with a grand opening planned for May 1.
