A Leesburg man was arrested with a suspended license after crashing an uninsured vehicle in a roundabout in The Villages.
An officer responded to a single-vehicle crash in a roundabout at the Village of Fenney around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Upon arrival, he found 20-year-old Berlian Nunez standing by a black Audi SUV against a concrete electrical pole.
Nunez admitted he had been driving west on Warm Springs Avenue before coming up on the roundabout. He estimated his vehicle was traveling 40 to 45 mph as he entered the intersection, the report said.
He heavy-braked, but his front wheels struck the roundabout’s curb and the one-way sign. The vehicle continued through the roundabout, damaging the vegetation, and exited back onto the roadway. The front wheels and the front end subsequently struck the curb on the northwest side of the roundabout, and he left the roadway to come to a stop against the concrete electrical pole, the report said…
