Suspect driving Mercedes leaves Social Security Office after backing into another vehicle

A Leesburg man was arrested after allegedly backing into another vehicle with his Mercedes and leaving the scene.

Officers responded to a vehicle crash at the Social Security Office, 900 N 14th St., on Friday, May 22, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. A detective had seen 42-year-old Raymond Santonio Blair back a silver Mercedes SUV into another vehicle before leaving the scene.

Based on the vehicle’s tag, an officer tracked Blair to his home address on West Oak Terrace Drive. The silver Mercedes was parked in front of the residence, and an evaluation revealed fresh damage to the back right corner of the bumper. Further investigation into Blair determined he had a full extradition warrant out of California, the report said.

He was subsequently detained and read his rights, which he claimed not to understand. An inventory of his personal property yielded an apparent fake Florida driver’s license from a wallet in his pocket. This was found under his actual Florida-issued ID in a clear slot, the report said…
