Lake County Pride proclamations face pushback

LEESBURG, Fla. — A proclamation in Lake County is stirring up mixed opinions. Lake County Pride tells Spectrum News that municipalities are resisting their proclamation that would mark June as Pride Month.

The founder of Lake County Pride, Danielle Olivani, says for years that she has tried to get the municipalities across the county to proclaim June as Pride Month. Last year, Leesburg, Mascotte, Lady Lake, and Mount Dora proclaimed June as Pride Month. But now, she says the nonprofit is facing pushback after only two cities proclaimed it again this year.
