Marion officials advance smoke shop ordinance, add kratom and vape restrictions

Marion County commissioners directed staff on Wednesday to expand the county’s laws on smoke shops to explicitly restrict synthetic kratom products and to establish minimum distances between new smoke shops and schools, churches, and parks.

On Wednesday, the Marion County Board of County Commissioners directed county staff to refine a proposed Land Development Code amendment restricting smoke shops, expanding the ordinance to explicitly cover kratom products and closing potential regulatory loopholes before final adoption.
