A Silver Springs resident is facing a long road to recovery and a slew of medical bills after surviving a nurse shark attack while fishing in Key West late last month.
Dave Daniel, who has lived in Silver Springs for the past decade and works locally as an exterminator, was standing in shallow water at a sandbar with friends when he was bitten by a nurse shark on August 23.
The attack caused a severe injury with an arterial bleed, requiring emergency responders to transport him via helicopter to Jackson South Medical Center in Miami.
