Well-known performer in The Villages will portray Benedict Arnold

The Villages chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will host Barry Corlew at its upcoming meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Captiva Recreation Center. Visitors are welcome.

Corlew is well-known for his acting and directing in The Villages. He recently appeared in “1776, The Musical” in June at the Savannah Center, where he portrayed Benjamin Franklin.

He began his theater career in the fourth grade and has never stopped. He directed his first show as a student director in the sixth grade. While in the U.S. Navy, Corlew worked with the Rota Little Theater in Spain.

Professionally, he has worked with the Caffe Lena Theater Project in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and performed with Riverview Productions. He directed “Embraceable Me” off-off-Broadway in New York City, and served as the assistant director and had a featured role in the film “The Old Livingston House,” shot locally in Central Florida. Corlew has also appeared in 10 other films and has more than 150 theater credits as an actor and director…
