A 32-year-old Georgia woman is behind bars in Marion County, Florida, after investigators tied her to an online vehicle sales scheme that cost buyers across four states nearly $45,000.
Dakota Burchfield, of Douglasville, Georgia, was booked into the Marion County Jail on Tuesday following her extradition to Florida. She faces charges of using a computer to defraud to obtain property, two counts of defrauding a victim over 65, and two counts of using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.
The case began on August 1, 2026, when Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies took a fraud report from a local business owner. The man told investigators that on July 16, he found an online listing for a dump truck he wanted to buy for his company.
