Shopper ignores double-declined debit card and flees Walmart with cart full of groceries

A Summerfield woman apparently didn’t want to take “declined” for an answer when she tried to pay for her groceries at a local Walmart.

Melissa Henrichs, 33, was arrested Thursday on a charge of first-degree petit theft after a bizarre shoplifting incident that played out at the self-checkout lanes of the Walmart in Summerfield.

According to an arrest affidavit from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, surveillance video from Aug. 21 captured Henrichs scanning her merchandise at a kiosk. She inserted her debit card to pay, but the transaction was declined. Unfazed, she tried inserting the card a second time. It was declined again…
