The Florida Department of Transportation has released a new video showcasing the rapid progress crews have made in demolishing the SW 66th Street bridge over Interstate 75 as part of an ongoing project to construct a taller, safer overpass.
According to an update from the state, crews have worked primarily overnight in recent months to tear down thousands of tons of concrete and steel.
The demolition phase was planned to minimize disruptions, with crews breaking the structure into smaller pieces and dropping them onto a protective layer of fine rubble over the roadway before reopening lanes to morning traffic.
The recently released video showcases the progress of the demolition, featuring aerial and ground-level footage of the original 15.8-foot-high bridge being dismantled to make way for the new structure.
