EF-1 tornado confirmed in Bedford County, Rutherford County Saturday

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — An EF-1 tornado hit Bedford County and Rutherford County Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The NWS reported a line of storms running from north to south crossed over Highway 41A and intensified into a tornado between Highway 41A and Highway 231 on Saturday, March 15.

The Christiana EF-1 was about 300 yards wide as it traveled for 4.49 miles with peak winds of 95 mph, starting 8 miles east-southeast of Eagleville at 3:22 p.m. and ending 9 miles northwest of Bell Buckle at 3:26 p.m., according to officials.

NWS said the tornado first touched down in far northwest Bedford County, near Carter Crossroads on Kingdom Road, damaging or destroying half a dozen outbuildings, storage buildings and barns. Then, it continued east-northeast, where it caused some minor damage to homes along Longview Road. Crews noticed garage doors blown in, fences knocked down, outbuildings destroyed, and roofs damaged.

After that, the tornado moved into far southwest Rutherford County, where trees were downed and a few outbuildings were damaged on Threet Road, according to NWS. Crews observed more tree damage as the tornado approached Williams Road…
