Florida Caregiver Arrested After Dementia Patient’s Son Notices Thousands of Unauthorized Charges: Police

A Floridian caregiver was arrested after she allegedly made nearly $3,500 in unauthorized charges on a dementia patient’s debit card.

Sandra Yeager, of Wildwood, was charged with felony grand theft and felony exploitation of the elderly after police were made aware of the transactions on the man’s card dating back to Oct. 31, 2023, per an arrest affidavit from the Wildwood Police Department obtained by FOX 35 .

According to the affidavit, police visited Yeager’s residence to investigate the suspected theft, and when they arrived Yeager, 54, confessed to using the patient’s debit card to make purchases without his knowledge. However, she said “it was only a few items,” per the affidavit.

Yeager is accused of spending over $1,800 at various Walmart stores in The Villages , Ocala, and Leesburg, over $400 at smoke shops, and over $800 for what appears to be a phone bill, including other miscellaneous charges.
