High-Speed Chase Ends in Fatal Crash in Ocala

In a shocking incident on February 1, 2024, in Ocala, Florida, a high-speed chase involving a stolen Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) patrol vehicle culminated in a catastrophic crash, resulting in the death of three individuals and critically injuring another. The series of events unfolded in the afternoon when 33-year-old Kendra Dalyn Boone, in a bold and desperate maneuver, commandeered a deputy’s SUV during a law enforcement interaction and subsequently led authorities on a perilous chase through the streets of Marion County.

The pursuit, characterized by extreme speeds and risky maneuvers, came to a tragic end when Boone, attempting to evade spike strips deployed by the deputies, lost control of the stolen vehicle. The SUV veered into the opposing lane on E Highway 40, colliding head-on with a 2016 GMC pickup truck. The impact was devastating; Boone and two occupants of the pickup truck, a 73-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman from Waterloo, South Carolina, succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
