World of Beer, a Tampa-based restaurant chain known for its extensive beer selection and casual dining experience, has recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The filing is part of an effort to restructure the company’s finances, focusing on eliminating debt and addressing leases at underperforming locations. The company attributed its financial difficulties to a sluggish recovery from the pandemic and increased operating costs. Despite these setbacks and the closure of 14 locations over the past year, World of Beer has continued to expand, recently opening new stores in Jacksonville and Odessa.
Buca di Beppo Enters Chapter 11
Buca di Beppo, a family-style restaurant chain with roots in Orlando, has also sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Known for its retro Italian-American dining experience, Buca di Beppo offers a menu of shareable classics such as chicken parmesan, pizza, and lasagna. The chain, which has accumulated over $10 million in debt, cited pandemic-related challenges as a primary factor in its financial distress. In addition to filing for bankruptcy, the company has been closing underperforming locations, including a restaurant in Maitland.
