New York Deep Winter Pattern Leans Coastal Storm in Long Range Forecast
12/1/24 3:07pm EST
Good afternoon everyone. Deep mid-winter-like cold has locked itself into the majority of the Upper Midwest, Central States, Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast courtesy of our last system. As another reinforcing shot of very cold air looms ahead for Wednesday and Thursday from west to east, we begin watching what’s behind that system; and all signs point to some wintry weather for someone.
Whether it comes to fruition or not, the long range models want to put a coastal or near coastal storm somewhere along the East Coast some time early next week (Week of Dec. 9th). For those who understand how to read these models, it doesn’t mean that something is 100% in the cards. However, if you watch the trends, these models keep kicking a sizable storm down the road with each run. This means that while not definite, the pattern is friendly for it if the right pieces come together.
