While Florida’s abundant sunshine and mild winter weather ensure merry and bright days in December, a small handful of dedicated holiday heroes in Central Florida go out of their way to ensure that evenings are also blindingly bright.
Florida doesn’t experience the snowfall and blustery cold that northern states associate with the holiday season, but Sunshine State residents do get to enjoy boat parades , Surfing Santas , festive light displays and decked halls of all kinds. The warm temperatures make it conducive for people to spend hours outside adorning their homes with thousands of light, meaning there’s plenty of holiday cheer to be found in the greater Orlando area.
For our seventh annual Twinkly Awards, we’re honoring the aspiring Clark Griswolds of Central Florida, who dedicate their talents and efforts to the cause of spreading holiday cheer. Although several previously popular Central Florida home displays are dark this year, including Johannessen Lights, David and Frank’s Clemwood Christmas Lights and the Lights on Jeater Bend, many other homes have stepped up to fill the void.
