An internal affairs investigation has cleared Dunnellon Police Interim Chief Ron Bray of two of the three allegations brought against him.
The substantiated allegation: “Members shall conduct themselves at all times, both on and off duty, in such a manner so as not to reflect unfavorably on or discredit the department as a whole.”
Inspector Sgt. Nickolas Frost of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office authored the report. Since DPD does not have a detective, the IA was conducted by the sheriff’s office.
According to Frost’s six-page report, the allegation that Bray violated a police department directive concerning confidentiality (information from certain state databases may not be released to the public) was unfounded. So was the allegation that Bray violated state law, which holds that whenever a complaint is filed against a law enforcement official or correctional officer, the investigation is confidential until it’s finished.
Bray declined comment.
Mayor Walter Green
Mayor Walter Green , who was given a copy of the report, told a Star-Banner reporter he plans to ask the Dunnellon City Council to impose the least amount of punishment against Bray.
