A Leesburg woman and a Umatilla man were arrested after multiple narcotics were found on them and in their vehicle during a traffic stop.
An officer observed a white Ford van, later found to contain 60-year-old Kimberly Jean Moran and 35-year-old Akeem Lamar Lewis, traveling north on Picciola Road around 8:38 p.m. Jan. 17, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
The officer noticed the driver, Moran, was not wearing a seat belt. The vehicle’s license plate bulb had also popped out of its socket and was dangling in front of the license plate. This caused a solid white line to be emitted toward the back of the vehicle when it was in forward motion, the report said.
As a result, the officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and approached the driver’s side door. He observed three passengers, including Lewis. The two others moved around in the rear “cargo” portion of the van while the officer talked to Moran. He asked her to get out and speak to him near his patrol vehicle because he could not see the subjects in the back of the van from the driver’s door, the report said…
