Silver Springs woman caught stealing electricity from neighbor’s home, deputies say

A Silver Springs woman was arrested for larceny after she allegedly used an extension cord to steal electricity from a neighbor’s home.

On Thursday, March 13, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy spoke with the female homeowner/victim who advised that one of her neighbors, 42-year-old Melissa Yanczak, was stealing electricity from her home, according to the arrest report.

The deputy noted in the report that a bright orange extension cord was observed on the victim’s property, which was connected to an electrical outlet used for the victim’s camper.
