A Lake County man was arrested for battery after allegedly slapping his girlfriend for walking too loudly in their house.
Officers responded to a battery at an undisclosed Fruitland Park residence around 5:10 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Upon arrival, the officers met with the female victim who was sitting on the front porch. She stated her boyfriend, 64-year-old Ernest Winslow Cushman, was inside.
The officers approached the front door and opened it. Cushman was standing in the living room yelling for them to not enter his house. He was instructed several times to have a seat, to which he complied, the report said.
An officer spoke to the victim who advised that they both had been drinking and got into an argument over her walking too loudly around the house. She would not elaborate. She instead stated she was standing in the living room arguing with Cushman when he slapped her on the right side of her face, the report said…
