A Leesburg woman was arrested on drug charges when she admitted to meth and marijuana being in her vehicle during a traffic stop.
An officer observed the driver of a white Charger, later identified as 42-year-old Sara Marie Owens, exit a private road and pass through a stop sign to get onto West North Highway at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, March 30 according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
As a result, the officer stopped the vehicle in front of Herlong Park, located at 700 W. North Blvd. He spoke with Owens and wrote a warning for the traffic infraction as a K-9 unit with the Fruitland Park Police Department arrived on scene for assistance. The K-9 sniffed around the outside of the vehicle, ultimately alerting to the odor of narcotics, the report said.
The officer escorted Owens out of the vehicle where she uttered that there was marijuana in the vehicle. The other officer informed her that his K-9 did not alert to the odor of marijuana, and she stated there was possibly “amphetamines” in the vehicle, the report said…
