A homeless woman in Fruitland Park was arrested after a deputy found a bullet in her purse as a convicted felon.
A deputy responded to a possible verbal altercation involving a gun near Haynes Road and Sunnyside Drive at around 10:20 p.m. Monday, March 31, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The 911 caller advised that she saw a woman lying in the middle of the roadway after hearing yelling and gunshots.
Elizabeth Chardonay Jergens, 37, was asked if she had any weapons, which she denied. She then gave law enforcement consent to search her belongings. The deputy found a single full-metal-jacket .22 round in the bottom of her purse, the report said.
Dispatch ran a criminal history check and discovered Jergens had eight felony convictions in Florida. She also told law enforcement that she was a convicted felon, the report said…
