A homeless woman in Leesburg was arrested when she was caught with multiple narcotics behind the Fruitland Park Plaza.
An officer observed 51-year-old Tabitha Crosby behind Fruitland Park Plaza, located at 3335 U.S. Hwy. 441, around 1:45 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
Due to the time of day, the officer knew none of the businesses were open. Additionally, the side of the plaza where Crosby was seen had a permanently closed business with unsecured doors and no open dumpster. Therefore, he stepped out with her, the report said.
As soon as the office turned into the parking lot, Crosby left from behind the A/C box, picked up her items and started walking away from where she was seen. She had several bags with easily accessible handles that appeared to be some sort of weapon.
