A 40-year-old Marion County woman who threatened on Facebook Messenger to “burn things” was arrested after she allegedly set a boat on fire.
A Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the 3200 block of NE 167th Street in Citra on Wednesday, April 9, in reference to a criminal mischief incident. The deputy made contact with an individual who claimed that a woman, identified as Katherine Elizabeth Towery, had burned a boat that belonged to a male victim, according to the arrest report.
The individual showed the deputy screenshots of messages that were sent by Towery to another individual on Facebook Messenger. The report mentioned that in those messages, Towery stated the following:
- “I’m starting to burn things.”
- “The fire under the boat.”
- “(Expletive) around here keep (expletive) with me their world is gonna burn.”
- “I’m not burning my (expletive), I’m burning the (expletive) (expletive) with me lkm.”
- “I’m crazier than people think but I don’t wanna hurt anybody. Woulda burned the RV if I was that crazy.”
The deputy noted that Towery also sent a photograph via Facebook Messenger that showed the boat on fire. In that photo, Towery was observed standing in the tree line near the side of her home…
