Children report father for allegedly pulling mother by the hair during argument

A Lake County man was arrested for battery after his kids told law enforcement that they allegedly saw him pull their mother by the hair.

Officers responded to an undisclosed Leesburg residence regarding a well-being check around 10:25 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Dispatch advised that a juvenile inside the residence texted a friend and stated her father, 38-year-old Donald Tom Edwards, battered her mother.

Upon arrival, they met the juvenile and her siblings outside the residence. The juvenile advised that Edwards was inside the residence, and she saw him batter her mother. Another officer arrived on scene shortly after and continued to speak with the witness while he met with Edwards inside the residence, the report said.

Edwards stated he had recently become frustrated with his wife, the victim. She had forgotten to pay the insurance which caused his driver’s license to become suspended. While arguing with her, he picked up a supply of crafting objects and slammed them on the ground. He advised that no physical altercation happened between him and the victim, just verbal arguing, the report said…
